    There has been an increase in reports of burglaries across the NL61 area.

    Action taken:

    There has been a decrease in reports of residential burglary across the beat following targeted neighbourhood policing activity. Officers will continue to work proactively to identify offenders, develop intelligence, and provide reassurance to residents through high-visibility patrols and community engagement.

    As we move into the autumn and winter months, with darker nights and reduced daylight hours, residents are encouraged to take simple steps to protect their homes. Officers are providing crime prevention and security advice, including ensuring doors and windows are secured, using external lighting where available, keeping valuables out of sight, and making properties appear occupied when unattended.

    High-visibility patrols have been conducted in areas previously affected by burglary, particularly during periods identified through crime pattern analysis as presenting a higher risk. These patrols have contributed to the reduction in reported offences by deterring criminal activity, increasing police visibility, and identifying suspicious behaviour at an early stage. Officers will continue to make use of intelligence submissions, CCTV opportunities, witness accounts, and partnership working to support investigations and identify those responsible.

    Neighbourhood officers are also engaging with residents, Neighbourhood Watch groups, local councils, and partner agencies to promote home security measures and encourage the prompt reporting of suspicious activity. Beat surgeries and community engagement events will continue across the area, providing opportunities for residents to discuss concerns directly with officers and receive tailored crime prevention advice.

    Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity, unfamiliar vehicles acting suspiciously in residential areas, or individuals attempting to gain access to properties is encouraged to report it to police at the earliest opportunity. Prompt reporting remains vital in helping officers prevent offences, maintain the reduction in burglary, and bring offenders to justice.

    Reports of increased thefts from motor vehicles have been received in the NL61 area.

    Action taken:

    There has been a decrease in reports of theft from motor vehicles across the beat following targeted neighbourhood patrol activity. Neighbourhood officers will continue to work proactively to identify offenders, develop intelligence, and reduce opportunities for crime through high-visibility patrols, crime prevention activity, and community engagement.

    Targeted patrols have been conducted in areas previously identified as being most affected, particularly during periods when offences were more likely to occur. These patrols have provided a visible police presence, helped deter offending, and contributed to the reduction in reported incidents. Officers continue to review crime reports to identify patterns, repeat locations, and potential suspects, making use of CCTV, witness accounts, forensic opportunities, and intelligence submissions where available to support investigations.

    Engagement has taken place with residents to provide practical crime prevention advice, including ensuring vehicles are locked and secure, removing valuables from sight, avoiding leaving items on display, and checking that keys are stored safely away from entry points within the home. Officers are also encouraging residents to report any suspicious persons or vehicles seen in residential areas, car parks, or near parked vehicles.

    This activity will continue through intelligence-led patrols, proactive investigations, and ongoing community engagement to maintain the reduction in offending and provide reassurance to the community. Beat surgeries will continue across the area, giving residents the opportunity to raise concerns directly with officers and receive tailored crime prevention advice aimed at protecting their vehicles and property.

    We have received reports of road safety concerns across the beat.

    Action taken:

    Officers have received concerns relating to road safety issues across the beat, including reports of speeding, careless driving, and other antisocial vehicle use. Neighbourhood officers are working proactively with Roads Policing colleagues and partner agencies to identify problem locations, address concerns raised by the community, and improve safety for all road users.

    This month, officers have carried out a number of targeted speed enforcement operations at locations identified through community reports, intelligence, and collision data. As part of this work, officers now have access to TruCAM II speed enforcement devices, which allow evidence of speeding offences to be captured and offenders to be prosecuted without the need for officers to stop vehicles at the roadside. This provides greater opportunities to enforce against speeding drivers and improve compliance across the beat.

    Patrols continue to be conducted at locations of concern, with officers engaging with drivers where appropriate and taking positive action against those whose manner of driving places others at risk. This activity provides reassurance to residents and helps deter dangerous and inconsiderate driving behaviour.

    Officers have also achieved a positive court outcome this month, with a male successfully convicted for driving without a licence and without insurance. This demonstrates the ongoing commitment of neighbourhood policing teams to tackling road traffic offences and improving safety for all road users.

    Engagement has taken place with local residents, schools, community groups and parish councils to better understand concerns and identify emerging issues. Officers continue to provide road safety advice and promote responsible driving standards, particularly around residential areas, schools, pedestrian crossing points and routes frequently used by cyclists.

    This activity will continue through intelligence-led patrols, speed enforcement operations, community engagement and partnership working to improve road safety, reduce offending, and provide reassurance to residents across the beat. Local Officer drop-ins will also continue, giving members of the public the opportunity to raise concerns directly with officers and discuss local priorities.
