Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

You Said - Residential Burglary. The area of Burbage historically has been a target for house burglaries. The draw of an affluent area close to major road networks makes the area ideal for cross boarder criminality. Although in recent years this type of crime has reduced considerably the fear of being burgled remains and as such throughout the summer we will make this a priority.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

We Did…. You can expect to see us around the Village at key times where data tells us that premises are at the most risk, we will continue to complete a enhanced level of enquiries at all reports of burglary or suspicious activity to help maximise the opportunity to identify offenders. We will use our social media channels to provide crime prevention advice and guidance throughout the summer on ways to prevent your home being targeted including the need to make it look lived in whilst away on holiday, by ensuring bins are not left out driveways not left empty and homes not left in complete darkness. Additionally we will be reminding people to close windows and doors when they leave the home or when they are in the different part of the home to prevent opportunities.

We are completing patrols and working with residents which includes some target work over the coming weeks and months where we will offer support in the run up to the main summer holidays and as we look towards the darker nights.

July - there has currently been one report where it appears the target of the activity was the vehicle on the drive at the start of July. No entry was gained and nothing taken. We are continuing with our targeted work to reduce incidents of residential burglary, which includes patrols, door knocks, social media and supporting individual residents. On the morning of the 20th, there were multiple reports of suspects trying door handles, garden hopping and ultimately stealing a vehicle (which has been recovered). We are completing extensive work to identify those involved. We have completed lots of work with residents where we have attended locations, supported with crime reduction, and discussed local issues. Further reports of suspicious activity on Brookside during the early hours of the morning.

August - During the first week of August, report of suspicious person, followed by a couple of attempt breaks on Woodland avenue and Winchester Drive overnight. No entry gained. We are completing work to identify those involved and raising awareness regarding this type of behaviour. No entry gained and nothing taken. Two arrests made in relation to a large amount of reported incidents in Burbage and Hinckley over recent weeks. Both persons remanded awaiting trial. No further reports of residential burglary.

  • Priority:

You Said - Theft of motor vehicle - High-End motor vehicle thefts has been identified as a priority for the next 3 months. Such high-end vehicles are appealing to criminals and can often be stolen via the specialist kit extending the key’s signal in order to unlock the car and subsequently start it.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

We Did - Our team will be present at all events across the Burbage area this year armed with Faraday pouches and other useful crime prevention kit to help ensure that you car is as safe as possible. We will continue to use CCTV and ANPR to identify and understand this criminality and maximise the chances of bringing offenders to justice.

During July - Report from Greenmoor road of suspicious persons attempting to take a vehicle from a driveway. As there has been several vehicle attempts over recent weeks, we continue to work with victims and residents to reduce risk. We are also completing targeted patrols whilst raising awareness.

July - Report of a motorbike theft where suspects have cut the chain and taken the vehicle. We are currently receiving reports of several suspects in balaclavas in the Burbage and Hinckley area. We are completing work to identify those involved. We are raising awareness around motorbike thefts and offering support where requested. One report of theft of motor vehicle on the morning of the 20th. Vehicle was recovered by Police later that day. We have also received reports of suspicious activity in Burbage and we are completing work to identify those involved.

August - No reports at time of writing, although there has been local reports of suspicious persons in balaclavas. This may be motorbike related so we continue to encourage residents to be mindful of this activity and we offer crime reduction support. Ongoing patrols in key locations. Two arrests made and both remanded awaiting trial. No further reports of vehicle crime. We continue to support residents and raise awareness.

  • Priority:

You Said - Anti-social Behaviour - Summer holidays see and extended period where young people have more time on their hands. Warmer and lighter evenings encourage people outside to enjoy open spaces, meet up and have fun. This often leads to an increase in reports of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) which impacts significantly on the quality of life to people effected.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

We Did…… We will continue our focus on ASB throughout the summer months. We will ensure patrols are conducted in hotspot areas and groups engaged with to remind them of the need to enjoy these spaces safely and responsibly. Where ASB occurs we will be working in partnership with the local authority to identify and deal with perpetrators via the incremental approach.

July - We are continuing with work to identify those involved in recent issues on Britannia fields, this includes CCTV work and visiting local residents. We are also working with the local schools. Other anti-social behaviour that we are seeing an increase in, during the warmer weather include Cannabis use, neighbour disputes and E-scooters. We are working with partner agencies such as housing associations and the council to support in resolutions. No major youth related issues during the school holidays at the time of writing.

August - Early August sees sporadic reports of large groups of youths causing low level nuisance in the area, we are working with local schools to identify and challenge this behaviour. Neighbour disputes continue to be of concern and we are working with housing associations/HBBC to implement outcomes to these reports. Reports of drug use/dealing also of note during the nice weather. As we head towards the end of the school holidays, no new issues but we continue to investigate and deal with previous issues. Ongoing patrols at local parks and we react to local isolated concerns including E-scooters, Cannabis smell and vehicle related nuisance.
