Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

The beat team aim to tackle different elements of ASB in Anstey, Thurcaston, Cropston and Newtown Linford. Highlighted areas were both allotments in Anstey,
Papermill Close and neighbouring recreational ground in Anstey
    Mitchell’s Field in Anstey
    Bradgate Park

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

We have patrolled all of these areas over the last month and specifically we have patrolled Mitchells field for youths parking up in an evening, playing loud music and littering, Paper Mill Close, Stadon Road recreational ground for rowdy youths, the allotments on Groby Road and the Nook car park for youths using gas canisters, although on our patrols these areas have all been peaceful and in order. We will additionally be patrolling Albion Street in Anstey following reports of youths breaking into a disused warehouse.

We are still seeing people riding e scooters and illegal electric bikes around the village. Please remember that these are illegal and we can remove these from people – They aren’t cheap and you won’t get them back.

We have also received reports recently of motorbikes being ridden around in an antisocial and dangerous manner in Cropston and Thurcaston. We will be patrolling these areas and looking to seize these motorbikes and / or prosecute the riders of them in these circumstances.

Update: This will still remain a priority for the beat team for the coming months a patrols will continue - ensuring that we deal with any incidents robustly.

    Actioned 01 October 2026

  • Priority:

We will be looking at Road safety issues in Anstey and villages, including speeding, parking issues (especially around school times), obstructions in Anstey (in particular parking on Cropston Road), vehicles not complying with traffic signals in the Nook, and use of electric scooters in public places.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

The schools have just opened up again, so we will recommence our school parking patrols where possible.

The new double yellow lines are now in operation on Cropston Road in Anstey, which should alleviate parking issues that many people have reported for several years. We’re aware that this may now cause more people to park on the adjacent side roads on occasion – This is a good time to remind all that parking is available at both the Co-Op car park on Cropston Road for a couple of hours and the Nook car park. If you do park on side streets near to Cropston Road on busy days, then PLEASE park considerately and with respect of the residents of those side streets.

We are always monitoring speed complaints at existing and new locations. If you have information or concerns at a location, please let us know.

Update: Road safety issues will remain a priority over the coming months and we will deal with any related incidents as robustly as we can.

    Actioned 01 October 2026

  • Priority:

We are aware of areas where drugs are used, especially in public areas and causing distress for others. We are also aware of certain addresses and areas where drugs are dealt. We will be targeting these areas to try and cut this down. Please make contact with us if you have any information about this!

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

We have patrolled these areas over the last month, particularly the areas around Paper Mill Close and Burgin Road and continue to gather intelligence on our patrols from local residents. We will continue to patrol over the coming month and build intelligence to take steps to enforce when and where possible.

We take reports of drug use and drug dealing seriously and will enforce when we can, but this does also rely on us gaining intelligence from our residents – Please always contact us directly (either online, in person if we’re at our office or by calling 101) if you have information that we may find useful!

Update: This will remain a priority for the beat team and patrols will continue in order to gather the intelligence needed to deal with those involved in drugs who cause the most harm to our communities.
