About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Road safety issues.

    Issued 16 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers have responded to concerns about speeding in Westgate‑on‑Sea and are taking these issues seriously.

They have spoken with drivers across the area to encourage safer driving and reduce speed. Work is also underway to restart the Community Speed Watch scheme, with a briefing planned. Community Speed Watch is a scheme where trained volunteers work with police to monitor speeding and raise awareness of road safety.

This ongoing approach focuses on prevention, education and responding to community concerns to improve road safety for everyone. Residents are encouraged to continue sharing issues through local ward surgeries or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report concerns and receive updates).

  • Priority:

    Criminal damage.

    Issued 16 April 2026

    Action taken:

PC England is taking action to address reports of criminal damage in the area and understands the impact this has on residents and businesses.

Officers are responding to incidents, carrying out high‑visibility patrols in affected locations and working with partners to identify those responsible. This includes reviewing CCTV, gathering information and following all available lines of enquiry. Where offenders are identified, appropriate enforcement action is taken.

Officers also engage with the community to understand patterns and concerns, helping to target activity more effectively and prevent further incidents.

This approach combines visibility, investigation and community engagement to reduce criminal damage and improve safety in the area.

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.

    Issued 16 April 2026

    Action taken:

PC England is continuing to focus on tackling antisocial behaviour (ASB) across Westgate‑on‑Sea.

Regular patrols are taking place in parks, streets and retail areas where residents and businesses have reported problems. During these patrols, officers speak with young people to explain how their behaviour can affect others and help prevent issues from escalating. Officers also visit local shops to provide reassurance and support to staff.

PC England has also carried out a recent ‘Walk and Talk’ event, speaking directly with residents about their concerns. The feedback gathered is being reviewed and shared with partners, including Westgate Town Council, to help develop longer‑term solutions.

This ongoing work combines visibility, engagement and partnership working to reduce antisocial behaviour and improve community safety. Residents are encouraged to continue sharing concerns through local ward surgeries or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report issues and receive updates).
