About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

We are aware of ongoing antisocial behaviour (ASB) concerns within Swanley Town Centre and the impact this can have on local businesses, residents and visitors. To address these issues, 2 dedicated officers have been assigned to patrol the town centre, providing a visible presence, responding to incidents and helping to deter further antisocial behaviour.

Officers make regular use of the council's CCTV system to identify those responsible and, where appropriate, use antisocial behaviour powers and engage with parents and guardians to address repeat issues. Local officers are also working closely with the secondary school to reinforce the message that antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated, while building positive relationships with young people and encouraging them to report concerns.

Although antisocial behaviour remains a focus for the local policing team, reports have reduced in recent months. Officers will continue to work with partners and the community to build on this progress and keep the town centre safe. • Priority:

    Nuisance vehicles.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Nuisance vehicles remain an issue across Swanley and can be difficult to tackle. Local officers continue to carry out high-visibility patrols in affected areas and make use of Section 59 warnings where those responsible can be identified. A Section 59 warning is a legal warning that can be issued when a vehicle is being used in a manner that causes alarm, distress or annoyance to others. If the warning is breached, the vehicle can be seized.

Speed checks are also planned in locations most affected by nuisance vehicle activity to help deter dangerous and antisocial driving. Residents are encouraged to report nuisance vehicles to Kent Police, either online or through their local neighbourhood officer, as information from the community helps officers target patrols and enforcement activity effectively.

  • Priority:

    Drug use.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

There have been minimal reports of drug-related issues in this ward. However, the local neighbourhood team will continue to monitor the situation and carry out patrols where appropriate. Residents are encouraged to report any concerns about drug use or suspicious activity, either through Kent Police’s online reporting system or directly to their local officer, as information from the community helps officers identify emerging issues and take action where necessary.
