E-Scooters/Bikes.

Action taken:

Police have been carrying out targeted action to address the illegal use of e-scooters in the area. As part of wider efforts to improve road safety and reduce antisocial behaviour, officers have identified riders and seized e-scooters with the support of the local community. Residents have been provided with a QR code that allows them to quickly submit photographs and video footage of vehicles being used in a way that causes nuisance or concern. Information received helps officers identify those responsible and take appropriate action, which may include providing advice and education, issuing warnings, carrying out traffic enforcement, seizing vehicles or, where necessary, pursuing prosecution.

Drug/drink driving.

Action taken:

Beat officers have worked closely with local licensing teams and businesses that sell alcohol to identify and tackle drink driving. By sharing information and carrying out targeted enforcement, officers have stopped drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and carried out roadside breath tests. This proactive approach has led to a number of arrests and helps make the roads safer for everyone in the community.

Police regularly carry out high-visibility patrols in areas where antisocial behaviour has been reported, including Friston Way Open Space and Copperfield Play Park. Through visible policing, engagement with residents and local businesses, and targeted action to address concerns, officers provide reassurance to the community and help deter ongoing antisocial behaviour. Officers have also used Community Protection Warnings to tackle persistent issues. A Community Protection Warning is a formal warning issued to someone whose behaviour is having a negative impact on the local community. It explains what behaviour must stop and gives the person an opportunity to change their actions before further measures, such as a Community Protection Notice, are considered.
