About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Nuisance motorcycles.

    Action taken:

    A number of e-scooters and illegally modified e-bikes have been seized in the area after being used without the required insurance.

    Officers have shared information with residents about the laws relating to e-scooters and e-bikes, helping people understand where and how they can be used legally. Privately owned e-scooters cannot currently be used on public roads, cycle lanes or pavements. Riders found using them illegally may have their vehicle seized and could face enforcement action.

    Mobile patrols are carried out regularly to identify offences, provide advice and take action where necessary. We will continue to monitor concerns and carry out targeted activity to help improve safety for all road users.

    Antisocial behaviour - personal.

    Action taken:

    Officers have carried out high-visibility patrols in the area to help prevent antisocial behaviour and provide reassurance to residents and businesses. While no antisocial behaviour has been witnessed during these patrols, officers have spoken with groups of young people gathering in retail and shopping areas to discuss how their behaviour may be perceived by others and the impact it can have on the wider community. Officers have also engaged with local businesses and provided crime prevention advice to help reduce opportunities for crime and antisocial behaviour.

    Drug dealing.

    Action taken:

    Officers have carried out both vehicle and foot patrols in areas where concerns about drug-related activity have been raised. As part of this activity, officers have conducted a number of stop and searches involving people and vehicles suspected of being connected to drug offences. A stop and search is a power that allows police to search a person or vehicle where there are lawful grounds to suspect they may be carrying illegal drugs, weapons or other prohibited items.

    This work has led to a number of arrests for suspected possession of Class A drugs, including substances such as cocaine and heroin. Officers continue to investigate information provided by residents and are using this intelligence to identify those involved in drug-related crime and take appropriate enforcement action.

    Tackling drug-related offending remains a priority, and we will continue to carry out targeted patrols and enforcement activity to help keep local communities safe.
