About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

  • Priority:

    Dog fouling.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Dog fouling has been identified as a priority for residents in North Deal. In response, we are working closely with Dover District Council’s Environmental Crime Team and the local dog warden, carrying out regular joint foot patrols in known problem areas. These patrols focus on speaking with dog owners, encouraging responsible behaviour and reminding people of the rules that require them to clean up after their pets.

Dover District Council leads on enforcement and can issue fines to people who do not clear up after their dogs, with more serious or repeated cases taken to court. Kent Police supports this work through high-visibility patrols, sharing information and helping to address ongoing issues. We also deal with incidents involving dangerous or out-of-control dogs where police action is needed.

High-visibility patrols continue across the area, both on foot and using marked police bicycles, to provide reassurance and respond to concerns raised by the community. If you are experiencing ongoing issues with dog fouling, please report this to Dover District Council so that action can be taken. If you have information about those responsible, or concerns about dangerous dogs, please contact Kent Police so we can support our partners and take appropriate action.

  • Priority:

    Antisocial behaviour - nuisance.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Following feedback from our recent community survey, antisocial behaviour has been identified as a priority for residents in North Deal. In response, we are carrying out regular high-visibility patrols across the area, including evenings, weekends and busy periods such as school holidays. These patrols help to reassure the community, discourage behaviour and give officers the chance to speak directly with the public.

We also attend local community events to listen to residents, better understand concerns and provide clear information about policing activity. Using reports, local knowledge and information from the community, we identify hotspot areas and focus our patrols where they are most needed. We work closely with Dover District Council’s CCTV Team to help monitor activity and respond quickly where required.

We also work in partnership with local businesses through groups such as Shop Watch and Pub Watch, which allow information to be shared quickly so that issues can be dealt with at an early stage.

As an example of this work, officers recently responded to reports of suspicious activity involving a group of young people in Deal. They were located nearby, spoken to and safely returned home to their parents, with further actions taken where needed.

We remain committed to tackling antisocial behaviour and improving the quality of life for residents in North Deal. Please continue to report concerns or share information with Kent Police so we can take action where it is most needed.

  • Priority:

    e-scooter/bikes.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Following feedback from our recent community survey, the use of e-scooters and nuisance bikes has been identified as a priority for residents in North Deal. In response, Kent Police has been carrying out targeted ‘action days’ focused on identifying and seizing e-scooters and bikes being used illegally, supported by regular high-visibility patrols in known problem areas.

E-scooters must meet legal requirements to be used on public roads and spaces, including having insurance, a driving licence, road tax and a registration plate. Most privately owned e-scooters do not meet these rules, which means they are not allowed to be used in public places. Where offences are identified, officers have taken action, including seizing the vehicles.

Seized e-scooters are not returned and are usually destroyed, and riders may face further action, such as penalty points on their driving licence. This work has already led to a reduction in use locally, as awareness increases. Across the Deal area, a number of e-scooters being used in an antisocial way have been seized and dealt with.

Alongside enforcement, we continue to speak with riders and the wider community to help prevent further issues. If you are experiencing problems with nuisance bikes or e-scooters, please report this to Kent Police so we can target our patrols effectively. If you have information about those responsible, you can contact Kent Police or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
