    Road safety.

    Action taken:

    Officers continue to promote road safety across New Romney and the surrounding area through regular speed checks and enforcement activity. Speed detection equipment is used whenever operationally possible to identify drivers exceeding the speed limit and address concerns raised by residents. Officers also use My Community Voice to share road safety advice, raise awareness of the law relating to e-scooters and e-bikes, and encourage safer driving. Vehicles found to be on the road without the required insurance, tax or other legal requirements have been seized, and drivers have been dealt with for relevant offences. Officers also encourage residents to get involved with Community Speedwatch, a volunteer-led scheme that helps identify speeding concerns and improve road safety within local communities.

    Action taken:

    Officers continue to maintain a visible presence across New Romney and the surrounding areas, helping to deter antisocial behaviour and provide reassurance to local residents. Regular patrols are carried out in towns and villages throughout the area, with officers responding to concerns raised by the community and taking action where necessary. Officers also work closely with partner organisations to identify and address environmental factors that may contribute to antisocial behaviour. For example, recent partnership work helped remove a location that was being used to conceal drug use and antisocial behaviour, resulting in an immediate improvement in the area. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting concerns, as this information helps officers and partners identify problems and develop effective long-term solutions.

    Action taken:

    Officers continue to take action against the illegal use of e-scooters and e-bikes across the Romney Marsh area. Information shared through My Community Voice helps raise awareness of the law relating to these vehicles and encourages safe and responsible use. In Lydd, an e-scooter was recently seized after it was being ridden illegally and in a way that could have put the rider and others at risk. Officers are committed to taking robust action against the unlawful use of e-scooters and e-bikes and will continue to carry out patrols and enforcement activity where offences are identified. Officers are also investigating reports of a motorcycle being ridden dangerously and without a registration plate, and enquiries are ongoing to identify the rider and take appropriate action.
