About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Road safety issues.

    Action taken:

    PC Howard has taken action to address concerns about road safety raised by residents.

    During patrols and roadside checks, officers have tested drivers for alcohol and drugs where appropriate. This includes roadside breath tests and drug tests, as well as field impairment tests (checks used to assess a driver’s ability to drive safely). Where offences are identified or suspected, arrests have been made.

    This ongoing work focuses on identifying unsafe drivers, preventing further offences and improving safety for all road users.

    Residents are encouraged to continue sharing concerns through local ward surgeries or My Community Voice (an online two-way messaging service used to report issues and receive updates).

    Action taken:

    Officers are taking action to tackle drug use and its impact on the community.

    This includes stop and search activity (a legal power that allows officers to search people for items such as drugs), which has led to arrests, out‑of‑court outcomes and the seizure of drugs.

    Officers are also carrying out welfare checks to support vulnerable people affected by drug use, offering advice and linking them with partner agencies for further help.

    This work combines enforcement and support to reduce harm and keep the community safe.
