About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Fly tipping.

    Action taken:

    Officers and PCSOs are working with Medway Council and local councillors to tackle fly‑tipping.

    A key focus area is Samuel Towers, where targeted work is underway. Together with partners, plans are being developed to improve the area and make it safer and cleaner for the community.

    Alcohol.

    Action taken:

    Local officers, town centre teams and special constables are enforcing rules around drinking alcohol in public to help keep Gillingham High Street safe and welcoming.

    Officers speak with individuals and take action where needed to prevent street drinking. Action has also been taken against a local shop for selling alcohol to someone who was already drunk.

    This remains a priority, and work will continue.

    E-scooters and e-bikes.

    Action taken:

    Kent Police is carrying out ongoing operations in Medway to tackle the illegal use of e‑scooters and e‑bikes.

    During recent activity, a number of vehicles were seized and riders were dealt with for offences. This work helps make roads and pavements safer for everyone, and will continue through regular patrols.
