About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

  • Priority:

    Drug dealing.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

Officers continue to respond to concerns about drug-related activity through targeted patrols in areas where issues have been reported. Information provided by residents helps officers identify locations of concern, gather intelligence and take action where appropriate. This may include stop and searches where there are lawful grounds. A stop and search is a police power that allows officers to search a person for items such as illegal drugs, weapons or stolen property when certain legal conditions are met. Through ongoing patrols, community engagement and enforcement activity, officers continue to work to tackle drug-related crime, deter offending and improve community safety.

  • Priority:

    E-bikes/E-scooters.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

Officers continue to tackle drug-related crime through targeted patrols and enforcement activity in areas where concerns have been raised. Information gathered through patrols, community reports and partner organisations helps officers identify suspected drug-related activity and support ongoing investigations. Regular high-visibility patrols are carried out in hotspot locations to deter offending, gather information and provide reassurance to residents. Through ongoing enforcement, intelligence gathering and partnership working, officers continue to disrupt drug-related crime and address concerns raised by the local community.

  • Priority:

    Road safety.

    Issued 20 July 2026

    Action taken:

Officers continue to carry out patrols in East Ward to address road safety concerns and provide a visible presence within the community. While reports of road safety issues remain low, officers continue to patrol key locations, particularly during the evenings, to deter speeding and other unsafe driving behaviour. Traffic enforcement operations are also carried out regularly to identify offences, improve road safety and respond to concerns raised by residents.
