About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Drug taking.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

High-visibility patrols are continuing in areas affected by drug activity, with stop and search powers used where appropriate. Stop and search is a legal power that allows officers to search people for items such as drugs.

No drugs have been found during recent patrols, but this visible presence helps deter offending. Officers are also carrying out drug warrants and using Closure Orders (legal powers to close properties causing serious problems) at identified addresses.

    Actioned 16 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Highway obstructions.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

Officers have engaged with local vehicle owners to make sure roads are not being dangerously blocked and that vehicles follow road traffic laws.

Reports of obstruction are assessed and dealt with. This includes speaking with the vehicle owner where possible. Vehicles without tax can be seized, and abandoned vehicles may be referred to Maidstone Borough Council for removal.

    Actioned 16 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Road safety issues.

    Issued 14 April 2026

    Action taken:

We have responded to concerns about road safety raised by the community.

High‑visibility patrols and speed checks have been carried out, leading to enforcement action for offences such as speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and driving without insurance. Vehicles have also been seized where appropriate.

We will continue to listen to residents and take action to help keep our roads safe.

    Actioned 16 June 2026
