About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area. 

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

    Action taken:

    Following concerns raised by residents, road safety remains a priority for local officers. Regular patrols, speed checks and enforcement activity are carried out to address concerns about speeding, dangerous driving and other behaviour that puts road users at risk. Officers work with local partners and community groups to identify problem locations and focus activity where it is needed most. Vehicle checks are also carried out to ensure drivers are fit to drive, vehicles are safe and legal requirements are being met. Where appropriate, officers conduct roadside alcohol and drug tests and take action against those who break the law. Officers will continue to respond to concerns raised by the community and carry out targeted activity to help keep local roads safe for everyone.

    Action taken:

    Following concerns raised by residents about heavy goods vehicles using local roads, officers have worked with the local authority to better understand the issue. Enquiries confirmed that lorries and skip vehicles are permitted to use these roads because they need access to authorised sites in the area. Officers have also carried out traffic monitoring and enforcement activity to assess vehicle movements and driver behaviour. During these checks, vehicles observed were found to be travelling within the speed limit. Officers will continue to monitor concerns raised by residents, carry out further checks where appropriate and work with partner agencies to help ensure road users comply with relevant regulations and to provide reassurance to the community.

    Antisocial behaviour.

    Action taken:

    Antisocial behaviour remains a priority for local officers. Regular patrols are carried out in areas where concerns have been raised to deter antisocial behaviour, provide reassurance to residents and respond to any emerging issues. While the number of reported incidents has remained relatively low, officers recognise that not all incidents are reported and continue to maintain a visible presence within the community. These patrols also provide opportunities to engage with residents, gather information and identify any developing concerns. Residents are encouraged to continue reporting antisocial behaviour so that officers can build an accurate picture of local issues and target resources where they are needed most.
