Your local policing team
Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.
Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.
Local residents, businesses and community groups have reported persistent ASB from groups of children in and around the Forest Centre and radiating out to neighbouring roads.
The ASB that was cause for concern around the Forest Centre has abated in recent weeks, although we acknowledge this is likely to be as a result of Covid-19 social distancing guidelines.
The Centre and surrounding areas remain regular locations for officers on patrol, as we are aware this is likely to be an area that sees breaches of current distancing guidelines due to it's proximity to housing areas and the draw of shops, some of which are open.
A couple of locations within this priority area that have previously seen spikes in ASB now have additional CCTV covering them. This has already proven beneficial in identifying a number of people involved in ASB and criminal damage in those areas.
NPT officers have visited parents of children identified as being involved in ASB with a view to making their parents aware of what their children are up to when away from their home, as well as educating the children about possible consequences if their behavior continues. Where suspects have been identified for criminal behavior that requires more robust action than education, investigations are ongoing with suspects being interviewed for a range of offences from criminal damage to assault.
