About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

The public have told us they are concerned about hate crime in parts of the Southend district, particularly where there have been recent incidents, ongoing tensions, or repeat locations of concern.

We will focus on supporting communities who feel worried and may be less likely to report incidents, building trust, encouraging reporting, and helping to reduce fear and harm.

    Issued 30 June 2026

    Action taken:

Our priority is to build confidence, improve reporting, and reduce repeat incidents of hate crime.
Officers will carry out regular reassurance patrols, engage directly with affected communities, and provide support and opportunities to share information.
We will continue to work closely with community representatives and local groups to build long-term relationships, improve trust, and understand emerging issues.
We will ensure there are clear and accessible ways to report hate crime, including third-party reporting options, so people feel safe and confident to come forward.

A visible police presence will be maintained at key community locations and events, where appropriate, to provide reassurance and deter offending.
We will identify and take robust action against those responsible for hate crime and related incidents to prevent further harm.
We remain committed to working with all communities to ensure Southend is a safe place for everyone.
This remains in our priority and is in progress.
