Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.
Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.
We receive a number of complaints around the use and production of drugs within the rural south area of Chester-Le-Street.
During the month of July we have continued to concentrate our efforts on the supply of drugs within the area of Sacriston and the wider villages. In these efforts, Chester-Le-Street officers have conducted drug search warrants at 3 addresses, one in Kimblesworth, Nettlesworth and Sacriston respectively.
A male was arrested for possession with intent to supply
Class A and B at the address in Sacriston. A male was given a street caution for possession of Class B in Nettlesworth, along with another male in Kimblesworth.
We have seen a increase in the amount of riders using off-road bikes illegally in the Sacriston area.
Due to a sharp increase of reported off-road bikes in the area, local officers are again targeting known hotspot areas in a bid to curb the rise in ASB. Known areas are being included in patrol patterns and identified owners are being visited to rule out their involvement whilst also re-enforcing the message.
We had received a number of reports involving people trying car door handles in Sacriston.
Officers recently conducted OPERATION HAWKEYE, which involved trying car doors and informing the resident if the vehicle was unlocked. This was in response to a number of reports involving people trying doors in the Sacriston area. 400 vehicles were checked, with 40 being unlocked. Please remember to keep your vehicle secure and valuables out of sight.
We have seen a sharp increase in the amount of reported youth nuisance in Sacriston.
High visibility patrols are continuing throughout the village’s during peak times to deter ASB and crime. These targeted patrols are being conducted by neighbourhood officers.
In Sacriston, we have been paying particular attention to the Fulforth Centre and surrounding streets, along with the Front Street and Viola Crescent/Lilac Avenue.
We have also been patrolling the field area behind Ugly Lane, Nettlesworth and the country roads between Plawsworth and Great Lumley, due to concerns around off-road bikes.
