About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    Rural Crime & Engagement

Rural crime is an issue for large areas of the country, but it tends to go unreported. It can impact on insurance premiums, food prices, the environment, and can damage local communities.

The Honiton Neighbourhood Team are conducting a visible presence in the rural community to offer reassurance and crime prevention. The aim is to improve connectivity with the rural communities and provide education to users of our beautiful countryside. This includes attending rural events to gain knowledge about the issues effecting the rural communities and to offer the crime prevention advice.

    Issued 01 May 2026

    Action taken:

Engagement with rural communities has resulted in:
-A continued decrease in Rural Burglaries over the last month
-Uptake in patrols around targeted areas

    Actioned 01 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Anti-Social Driving & Vehicle Offences
There will be an increased focus on Road Safety within our rural communities to reduce collisions, improve driver behaviours and increase community confidence through visible, intelligence led road policing activity. This will include conducting speed checks in identified hotspot areas, supporting and expanding Community Speed Watch Activity, address vehicle related ASB through engagement and enforcement, and promoting road safety awareness.

    Issued 01 May 2026

    Action taken:

Stops on vehicles in these areas continue and education, or enforcement is used where appropriate.
-2 S59 warnings issued on vehicles

    Actioned 01 June 2026

  • Priority:

    Community Engagements
Engagement is key for us at Honiton and, over the coming month, we will be at the following events in your area:
