About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Tackling priority and prolific offenders in Mid Devon

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

A number of individuals across Mid Devon have been arrested, charged and convicted for business crime offences and we are currently awaiting results from court in relation to Criminal behaviour order applications. We are currently exploring Anti social behaviour injunctions for several young people involved in persistent ASB around business premises.

    Actioned 01 July 2026

  • Priority:

Identifying areas which suffer from the highest amounts of reported anti social behaviour and using a wide range of resources to tackle issues in those problem areas.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

A number of issues were raised in Cullompton recently around Youth Anti social behaviour and therefore increased patrols were undertaken in the identified areas, including with the addition of officers from the Neighbourhood support team from Exeter.
In Crediton, in line with the finer weather, there has been an increase in reports of ASB and street drinking in the High Street. We are currently waiting for confirmation of the Public Spaces protection order being granted so that we can utilise these additional powers to help resolve the issues.

    Actioned 01 July 2026

  • Priority:

Support the community safety partnership in delivering a unified response to patrolling the Tiverton Town Centre hotspot policing area.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

We remain committed to policing the hotspot policing area in Tiverton. We continue to work closely with Mid Devon Council and the street marshals. We do however recognise that the funding for the marshals is due to expire at the end of the summer so opportunities for further funding need to be explored.

    Actioned 01 July 2026
