About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

    - Car/garden thefts
    - Improve partnership working
    - Youth priority – e-scooter usage

    Issued 01 October 2026

    Action taken:

Car/garden thefts: Many residents are concerned about thefts from their cars or outdoor areas, such as gardens. Upcoming action:
    - Trend known target areas
    - Maintain a visible presence through high visibility foot patrols in key locations.
    - Continue reviewing live incidents for targeted responses
    - Provide updates and advice to residents via Derbyshire Alert and face-to-face community catch-ups. Improve partnership working
The ‘broken windows theory’ states that visible signs of disorder create an environment which can encourage further crime. Residents have mentioned they are keen to share information to support improvements, but are not always sure which agency handles each issue. Furthermore, some changes within our partner agencies are providing increased opportunities to work together. Upcoming action:
    - Meetings between the police and partners to discuss joint effort plans.
    - Continue listening to your feedback to guide our meetings
    - Share leaflets with contacts and links
    - Host community engagement to respond to any local queries
Youth priority – e-scooter usage: Through our foot patrols, youth engagement and community discussions, we are aware that the youth usage of e-scooters is a cause for concern. E-scooters are illegal and can also be dangerous to users and the general public. Upcoming action:
    - Seizure of e-scooters
    - Delivery of antisocial warning letters to youths on e-scooters as well as safeguarding referrals
    - Advice provision to houses where e-scooters are sighted - Community engagement events to provide information - Information on Derbyshire Alert and through facebook. Use stop/search and vehicle stop powers where powers exist For any of the above issues, please raise any concerns with your local officers, over the phone, on the Derbyshire Constabulary website or anonymously through Crimestoppers (online or on 0800 555111). This will help us formulate targeted responses.
