About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

There has been a recent increase of theft of machinery from commercial and agricultural premises. A number of items have been recovered and returned to their owners due to a combination of community intelligence and partnership working with our rural crime team. Please report and suspicious behaviour, small 'snippets' of information help us to build an intelligence picture and target our resources where they are most needed.

    Issued 07 November 2024

    Action taken:

Wincanton Rural Neighbourhood Officers continue to monitor this priority as we are still receiving reports from our rural communities. We are also working with neighbouring forces like Dorset Rural Crime Team on crimes which are happening across borders.
Proactive patrols will continue, please contact us on our website for any enquiries which we can try and help with.
