About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

General parking issues and parking issues related school pick-up and drop-off remain a priority.

We will be regularly monitoring the parking issues outside of all schools in the North Taunton area, as well as general parking issues. This will take place especially during the morning and after-school periods.

    Issued 24 May 2026

    Action taken:

We often receive complaints of vehicles parking on the zig-zags located outside of the school grounds as well as the obstructions caused by vehicles stopping on junctions to drop off their children. We encourage parents to drop off their children reasonably to prevent blocking traffic such as parking further up, and walking their children to the school gates.
We also use our Parking Buddies which are funded by the Road Safety Team to help spread the message about responsible parking, speeding, the dangers of parking on pavements, and crossing the road safely.

    Actioned 24 May 2026

  • Priority:

We will field any calls that we receive reporting the use and supply of drugs including class A.

Within our priority to tackle drug use, another focus is drug driving, which is both illegal and dangerous to the user and other road users.

We would urge people to report any suspicious activity to the neighbourhood team or to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

    Issued 24 May 2026

    Action taken:

We regularly patrol any and all hotspots of drug use and reported dealing by the public to maintain visibility. We also submit the necessary intelligence to help officers prevent continued drug offences.

    Actioned 24 May 2026

  • Priority:

Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) can have a devastating impact on individuals as well as our local community, and everyone has the right to feel safe where they live, and we all have apart to play in this.

We always encourage our communities to report persistent Anti Social Behaviour in your areas, either by calling us on 101, using our website to report things online, or by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Our local neighbourhood teams work alongside our constabulary’s specialist anti-social behaviour team, as well as other local authority services and charities, to work with those involved in low level offending. This ranges from warning letters to education and support. We also work with those involved in more persistent offending with higher end interventions, such as Community Protection Notices and Community Behavioural Orders that can include arrestable conditions. High visibility patrols are conducted by our local teams at every opportunity to provide reassurance to both the wider community and also to detect and deter anti-social behaviour in your area.

    Issued 24 May 2026

    Action taken:

The team regularly look to carry out high-visibility patrols to deter any issues caused by anti-social behaviour, especially those in public spaces.
We also work close in hand with our partner agencies to identify anti-social behaviour and put in place actions that would decrease or prevent anti-social behaviour in shared public spaces.

    Actioned 24 May 2026

  • Priority:

We often receive multiple reports of people driving their vehicles anti-socially or riding motorbikes on pavements and green spaces, without the proper safety equipment and correct legal documentation. Some of these reports include multiple riders on the bikes.

Please contact us on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency if you witness this happening in your area.

    Issued 24 May 2026

    Action taken:

When reports are received of individuals riding without appropriate safety equipment or with multiple riders, we collaborate with partner agencies and conduct targeted patrols during peak times to identify those involved. We then provide guidance on safe and responsible use of their chosen mode of transport.
In response to reports of anti-social driving behaviours, such as excessive engine revving, we carry out patrols to locate and identify the individuals responsible, enabling us to take appropriate action and interventions.
