    Rural Crime Matters  Our rural communities are some of the safest places to live, but unfortunately they are not immune from crime. Rural crime can take many forms, including hare coursing, poaching, livestock worrying, fly-tipping, theft of agricultural machinery, fuel theft, illegal hunting, criminal damage and wildlife crime. These offences not only affect local farmers and landowners but can have a significant impact on the wider community. PCSO Will and colleagues continue to carry out regular patrols of rural hotspots across the area, working closely with farmers, landowners, gamekeepers and partner agencies to gather intelligence, deter offenders and provide reassurance. We rely heavily on information from the public. If you see suspicious vehicles, people acting unusually in rural locations, or any activity that doesn't seem right, please report it. Even small pieces of information can help build a bigger picture. Report crime or suspicious activity:• 999 if a crime is in progress or there is an immediate threat to life. • 101 for non-emergency reports. • Report online via the Avon and Somerset Police website. • Crimestoppers: 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.     Speeding in Our Rural Villages – We All Have a Part to Play Speeding remains one of the most common concerns raised by residents across our rural communities. While many people associate speeding with busy roads, excessive speed on village roads can be particularly dangerous. Our villages are home to children walking to school, residents crossing roads, horse riders, cyclists, farmers moving machinery and pedestrians enjoying the countryside. A vehicle travelling above the speed limit has less time to react to hazards and, if a collision occurs, the consequences can be life-changing. Many of our rural roads are narrow, winding and can be affected by poor weather, mud on the road and reduced visibility. Even driving at the speed limit may sometimes be too fast for the conditions. Local policing teams continue to work with partners to address speeding concerns, but we also need the support of our communities. Could you help make a difference by joining Community Speed Watch? Community Speed Watch (CSW) is a volunteer-led initiative that empowers local residents to monitor vehicle speeds in their communities. Volunteers receive training and work in partnership with police and local authorities to record speeding vehicles. Drivers identified as speeding may receive warning letters, helping to educate motorists and improve road safety. By becoming a Community Speed Watch volunteer, you can: - Help make your village safer - Raise awareness of speeding issues -Support road safety initiatives -Work alongside your local community and police If speeding is a concern in your village and you would like to learn more about joining or establishing a Community Speed Watch scheme, please get in touch with your local neighbourhood policing team.
