About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Being a predominantly retail environment, we suffer from a high-level of shop theft. Alongside the thefts businesses also suffer with ASB linked to this activity.

    Issued 01 July 2026

    Action taken:

The local neighbourhood policing team is continuing to work with partner agencies, including the Avon and Somerset Police design out crime unit, and the Bristol City Council streetwise team to counter retail crime currently taking place in Clifton Down.
We also continue to regularly patrol targeted areas, in both plain clothes and high visibility uniform to deter crime.

    Actioned 24 September 2026

  • Priority:

Street homelessness community continue to be a problem within Clifton Down and we are working in close partnership with Bristol City Council’s Streetwise Interventions Services team and other agencies in order to tackle this behaviour and support those in need of support.

    Issued 17 September 2026

    Action taken:

The local neighbourhood policing team is continuing to offer support and advice to any members of the local community who are currently begging or living on the streets.
We will also continue to investigate any reports of begging and other anti-social behaviour to prevent this behaviour and encourage people to seek support from the appropriate services.

    Actioned 24 September 2026

  • Priority:

Recently, the local neighbourhood policing team have seen a rise in reports of loud parties, and Anti-Social behaviour as a result of this.

For any advice around loud parties, please see our reporting page here: Report noise complaints | Avon and Somerset Police

Bristol City Council also offer advice around this, as they are the most appropriate agency to deal with noise complaints: Noise complaints

If you believe a loud party is being held by, or attended by local university students, you can also report this behaviour to Bristol University: Complaints about student behaviour | Accommodation | University of Bristol
