About us

About us

Local policing teams are groups of officers dedicated to serving the community. Teams are made up of officers based in the area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

Teams work closely with local authorities, organisations, partners and residents to decide policing priorities. This helps teams find long-term solutions to local problems.

Policing priorities

  • Priority:

    Action taken:

  • Priority:

Shop theft continues to affect local businesses and the wider community. Neighbourhood Policing officers will work closely with retailers to prevent offending, identify repeat offenders, and carry out high-visibility patrols in key retail areas. Through proactive policing and partnership working, we aim to reduce shop theft, support local businesses, and improve community confidence.

    Issued 24 September 2026

    Action taken:

High-visibility patrols will be conducted by Neighbourhood Policing officers within local stores to deter and disrupt criminal activity, provide reassurance to staff and customers, and identify any emerging issues affecting the retail community.

    Actioned 24 September 2026

  • Priority:

Dangerous parking around schools, especially on zig-zag lines, puts children at risk and blocks visibility. Drivers must respect these restrictions to keep school areas safe.

    Issued 12 June 2026

    Action taken:

High-visibility patrols will be conducted during school drop-off and pick-up times to address concerns raised by the community, deter anti-social behaviour, and improve road safety. Officers will provide a visible presence, engage with parents and pupils, and take appropriate action where issues are identified.

    Actioned 24 September 2026

  • Priority:

Ongoing anti-social behaviour involving motorbikes and electric bikes in the Woodhouse Road and Redland Park area of Twerton, Bath. Riders are frequently using footpaths and green spaces at speed, causing noise nuisance and posing a risk to pedestrians. Issue is persistent and impacting local residents; request for patrols and enforcement.

    Issued 21 September 2026

    Action taken:

Partnership working with the local council to install signage at all access points leading to the problem area, raising awareness and deterring anti-social behaviour.

Ongoing patrols by Neighbourhood Policing officers, including both high-visibility and plain-clothed deployments, to disrupt offending, gather intelligence, and provide reassurance to the community.

A community letter drop has been completed within the area to inform residents of ongoing issues, encourage reporting, and provide crime prevention advice.

    Actioned 24 September 2026

  • Priority:

The above issue is a forcewide priority for Avon and Somerset Constabulary to make women feel safer walking, predominantly after dark, in their communities.

Reports can be made via – Report feeling unsafe in public spaces (StreetSafe) | Avon and Somerset Police or a walk and talk with a female officer can be arranged via – Walk and Talk | Avon and Somerset Police
