Assistant Chief Constable Martin Evans

My connection to West Mercia is very strong having been born and bred in Shropshire, where I still live and socialise. I was educated at Adams Grammar School in Newport and was an active member within Shropshire Young Farmers.

I previously served with West Mercia Police as a PC working within Shropshire and Telford at stations in Whitchurch, Market Drayton, Malinsgate and Wellington, before transferring to Staffordshire in 1996 where I was promoted to Sergeant.

I have 27 years policing experience, having worked at all ranks up to and including Chief Superintendent in both uniform and as a detective. During this time, I have been Staffordshire's Head of Anti-Corruption Unit, Director of Intelligence, Head of Serious and Organised Crime, Head of Crime and most recently been responsible for all of Local Policing within the Force.

Between 2012 and 2014, I had the privilege of being Head of the Central Motorway Police Group working for West Mercia Police as part of the three Force collaboration, whilst also working very closely alongside Warwickshire Police. Whilst performing this role, I took on a national role under the ACPO Roads Policing portfolio, chairing the National Roads Policing Intelligence Forum and an international role as the UK representative on the TISPOL (European Roads Policing) Roads Policing working Group.

I am married and have two daughters who keep me both busy and entertained. I enjoy running, cycling, squash and the occasional game of golf.
