Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities in this neighbourhood.

Priority

Tower blocks

Over the next 4 weeks, scaffolding will be erected on the 3 tower blocks in Devonport.  This will be managed by Mi-Space in conjunction with Plymouth Community Homes.  The security of all residents is primacy and although there will be some disruption caused this will be minimal.  The local Devonport Neighbourhood Team have held a number of meetings.  Security will be on site and also CCTV monitoring the location.

Update: 15 January 2019 - Frequent Patrols

The local team patrol the area in and around the tower blocks regularly.

We liaise with the security teams in the blocks and PCH.

Priority

Speeding Traffic in and around Valletort Road and Wilton Street STOKE

There has been an increase in vehicles exceeding the speed limits on Valletort Road and Wilton street. 2 Serious incidents recently have resulted in near misses and serious injury.

Local policing officers have been conducting speed checks in the area and will continue to conduct high visibilty patrols.

Priority

Drug Dealing - Morice Town area

The team are aware that drugs are prevalent in the area. We will act robustly and aim to prosecute offenders who try to supply to our community. Intelligence from the public can be a key to opening doors!

Morice Town has a new local Policing officer, PC 6081 SANGER.

PC SANGER is aware of the ongoing issues in the area and continues to monitor.

Drug Dealing - Cornwall St/Queen St

There has been an increase in people attending Cornwall Street and Queen Street locations and staying for a short period of time before leaving.  This also includes people arriving in taxis.  A number of stop checks have been conducted and will be ongiong in the coming months in an attempt to tackle this problem.

Priority

Parking issues and unnecessary obstructions around schools in the Stoke area

Police and Plymouth city council have received several reports regards issues with motorists parking their vehicles inconsiderately and causing unnecessary obstructions around schools in the Stoke area at the times of dropping off and picking up children.

Update: 11 January 2019 - Joint Visit

A joint meeting was held on 16th Nov 2018 between the local policing officer PC BENWELL and the road safety team from Plymouth City Council. The council hace proposed to apply further double yellow lines and zig zags around the roads surronding Stoke Damerel Primary School.

Update: 11 January 2019 - School Patrols

PC BENWELL has been patrolling schools in the area before and after school.

Words of advice passed to parents about parking inconsiderably and the dangers associated with this.

 

15/11/18  The Stoke neighbourhood team have again been in attendance in and around the Wellington street, Paradise road, fellows place area to advise Members of the public who are parking inconsiderately and pass warnings to other drivers contravening the road traffic act.

Parking issues Marlborough Street, Devonport.

Marlborough Street is a pedestrianised area during party of the day.  A number of vehicles have been seen to drive along this road and concerns have been raised regarding the safety of pedestrians.

Update: 15 January 2019 - High Visibility Patrols

PCSO Mitchell has been conducting frequent high visibilty patrols in the area.

She has been stopping motorists and has been educating the drivers on the current restricitions in the area for motor vehicles.
