Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities in this neighbourhood.

ASB in Woolacombe

We have seen an increase in ASB in Woolacombe over the last few weeks. This is mainly happening on a Friday evening and on other days as well.

This has included ASB, criminal damage, arson and damage to private property.

We have shown a high viz presence in the area over the last month particually on a Friday evening. Reported incidents of ASB have greatly reduced which we are pleased about. We will continue to monitor the area over the next few weeks.

Following the recent increase in ASB in Woolacombe the Braunton and Ilfracombe neighbourhood teams as well as Ilfracombe response teams have shown a high-viz presence in the village particually on a Friday evening.

The teams will stop an engage with  any individuals thought to be involved in the ASB. This will continue into the Spring months.

We are still getting reports of ASB in Woolacombe particually on a Friday evening. We now have a Primary Tasking for this area where Officers from Braunton and Ilfracombe have to update when they visit and report any issues on this database.

We will still conduct hi-viz patrols during the evening period when resources allow

Priority

Speeding on Saunton road in Braunton

We have received reports from the public about speeding along the Saunton road in Braunton. Complaints have also been received from the Parish council.

We as a team will be monitoring the road with our speed cameras over the coming months and colecting data to forward to the roads speed reduction team to see if any speed reduction plans can be put into place.

The CSW team are still monitoring this road and input data when they do. Owners of vehicles are getting warning letters when a driver is seen doing 35mph+

We are in the process off training up new members for our community speedwatch team. This will give us greater capacity to monitor this road over the coming months. I will give a further update next month

the neighbourhood team have been out last week taking speed stats for this road. Once the CSW team have completed their training on sunday 24th february we will look to get the team out on this road and reporting drivers who break the speed limit

The CSW team are now fully trained and including Saunton road in their speedwatch monitoring.

A couple of weeks ago the Braunton and Ilfracombe neighbourhood teams along with Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue service held a combined traffic operation on this road. Vehicles were stopped for the following, Speed, mobile phone use and no seat belts. Those stopped were offered education from the Fire Service instead of a fine. This was by way of watching videos and advice from the FS and Police present.

The new CSW team are now operational and have been out on saunton road in the last couple of weeks monitoring the speed of vehicles using this road.

in the 3 sessions held here so far over 50 drivers were caught exceeding the speed limit and will receive letters in the post informing them of this.

Due to the busy Christmas and New Year period the team have not been out with the speedgun. We will revisit this area during January to monitor the speeds of vehicles using this road.

The team have been out on saunton road collecting data on a number of occasions  It is difficult over the summer months due to the volume of traffic on the road.

Both the neighbourhood team and community speedwatch team have been out on Saunton road over the last month. Speeding is still an issue but doesnt seem as bad over the last couple of months. We will continue to monitor the area

Vehicle Security at local beauty spots

Prevent theft from your vehicles.

Keep vehicles locked and secure, and remove all valuables.

Secure doors, windows, boot and sunroof when you leave your vehicle.

Don't leave items on display.

If you have to leave items in the vehicle put them in the boot out of sight.

Always park in a well lit location that is visible to passers by.

This weekend there were a couple of breaks to vehicles parked at whistland pound car park. While hoping this isnt the start to rural car park thefts from vehicles we will show a high viz presence in our local isolated rural car parks. We will also put a reminder out on social media about not leaving items on display inside unattended vehicles

Now the warmer weather is here our car parks are filling fast with visitors and locals out enjoying our beautiful countryside. Unfortunately this presents an ideal opportunity for criminals to visit these often isolated car parks and steal items left on display in vehicles.

We will direct our patrols to these areas to act as a viable deterrent and use our Facebook page to get the message across regarding this type of crime.

The Neighbourhood team are visiting these local beauty spots particually at the weekends when the weather is nice and the car parks get used more. The high viz approach seems to be working well with no reported incidents in our area as yet. Neighbouring areas have received reports of thefts from vehicles over the last few weeks so we dont want this to start up again here.

There have been some thefts from vehicles at beauty spots near Braunton but none reported in our local area.

We will continue to conduct hi-viz patrols in these areas in Braunton and woolacombe particually now the weather is getting better and visitor numbers are increasing. We will continue to get the message across to local residents and visitors about the danger of leaving high value items on display in unattended vehicles at these locations using social media and newsletters.

The neighbourhood team continue to patrol local beauty spots which are favoured for this type of rural crime.

We are pleased to say that reported crime of this type has reduced over the last couple of years but we will still conduct high viz patrols in these areas.

The team will continue to visit these areas during the nice weather we are experiencing at the moment. This week is half term so will be busy.

The team when able visit our local beauty spots and isolated parking areas to show a high viz deterent to potential thieves who are looking to break into vehicles. This will be stepped up over the coming months as it starts to warm up looking towards the spring.

The neighbourhood team continue to monitor our isolated parking areas where vehicles are still vulnerable to someone breaking and entering vehicles at these locations.

We are now entering the time of year where our rural beauty spots become very busy. We still patrol these areas when time allows. We have been lucky in the Braunton area with hardly any thefts reported. Other neighbouring areas haven't been so lucky. We use our Facebook page and newsletters to remind people to be vigilant and not leave items on show and to report anything suspicious. We will continue to patrols these areas.

The Neighbourhood team are still carrying out high viz patrols at our various beauty spots. We are now entering the Easter holidays and there are a lot of people parking their cars at such places.
