Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities in this neighbourhood.

Prevention of Acquisitive crime and Burglary - Op Crow

Brixham Neighbourhood Team have been the first to pilot the new Targeted Patrol Plan in relation to detering and detecting criminals who are repeatedly targeting certain areas of the town in order to commit thefts, shopliftings and burlgaries.

The team assess the areas of the town each day which appear most at risk for each offence and target these areas for high-visibility patrols, both in vehicles and on foot.

Update: 18 May 2018 - Suspects identified and sentenced

This is an ongoing operation to prevent and detect burglaries in and around Brixham. In the last 12 months several burgarly suspects have been identified, sentenced and imprisoned due to the diligent investigation of the neighbourhood team in conjunction with the CID department.

Priority

Illegal Money Lending

Brixham Neighbourhood Team have been closely working with Trading Standards and the National Illegal Money Lending Team to combat the ongoing issues of illegal money lending in Brixham and Paignton.

This is to safeguard our comminuty and protect vulnerable persons, who have been targeted to be the victims of ongoing illegal money lending opertaions in Torbay.

Priority

Op Olympic - Safeguarding Communities

Operation Olympic is an operation being run throughout Brixham and Paignton, co-ordinated by Brixham Neighbourhood Team Leader Sgt Lee Langley.

It is aimed at the disruption to the supply of class A drugs and the production and supply of class B drugs thoughout Paignton and Brixham. This is to ensure the local community is fully protected and safeguarded from the harm caused by the buying, selling and use of illegal subsances and class A and B drugs within Brixham.

We work closely with the local communities, Devon and Cornwall Dog Handlers, the Force Support Group and the local neighbourhood teams to action warrants and perform proactive drugs disruption operations throughout Brixham and the surrounding areas.

This operation is ongoing. It started in November 2016 and so far has disrupted and seized drugs in excess of £130,000

Update: 18 May 2018 - Arrests

Over the last 18 months there have been over 50 arrests in and around Brixham due to the active and targeted action by the Brixham Neighbourhood Team.
