Local policing priorities for Macclesfield

Looking for something else?

Consultation with the community has identified the following priorities in this neighbourhood.

Priority

That you were concerned about rural crime and the fact that historically farms and livestock are targeted during Lambing season.

Operation Lambswool - What is it? Well, historically Cheshire's sheep farmers are targeted by criminals at this time of the year. The new born lambs are stolen, which causes a significant financial loss to the farmers.

We recognise this and so our team which includes specially trained wildlife officers, make efforts to disrupt this criminality. We will also be looking at the theft of plant machinery too

Make sure you follow @CheshPolRural on Twitter for updates and further information.

Action taken

We have been running Operation Lambswool, with the help of our colleagues from the Special Constabulary. We have been sharing intelligence with our neighbouring forces and have met and agreed to work more closely on rural crime. This was widely covered in the three counties local newspapers.

Two males were arrested after killing lambs at on a farm, and that investigation is still ongoing.
