We've made the crime data on this website available in an open and standardised format so that communities, local services and developers can make use of it to develop innovative web-based applications (apps).
This app helps motorists assess the safety of their local area, vehicle and passengers by combining road accident data from the Department for Transport with street level vehicle crime data from the Police API and mapping the data on a Google map.
Crime Sounds gives you a sense of crime around your current location by enhancing your hearing with a cinematic “soundscape”.
All crimes within a range of 50 meters are used to generate a specific soundtrack. The volume of four different instruments is controlled by the category and the amount of crimes within the close range, all other crimes are muted. Crime Sounds accesses all crime data published by the UK Police forces for England and Wales.

Crime Locator is a free Samsung bada application that allows the user to find crime scene locations near their current position all around England and Wales. Having this information the user can pick a safe location to leave their car or choose the safe path to walk home by night.
The application can work in automatic mode, in which crime scene locations are downloaded without interaction when the user moves further than 1 mile from previous location. Alternatively, the crime scenes location can be downloaded via the menu.

Searching for a new house is never easy, especially if you're moving to a new area which you know nothing about, but FINDaPAD brings together all Estate Agents listings in your chosen area, making the process a whole lot easier.
FINDaPAD is quick and easy to use, simply enter a post code, place name or even use your phone's location to find out all you need to know. From local amenities such as doctor's surgeries, pubs and restaurants to local crime statistics and house price trends, it's all in one app.
There's also a route planner to get you from where you are now to your chosen property, using your phone.
Bobbies lets you access all the crime data published by the UK Police forces. It updates each month, and allows you to see what the crime level is in each neighbourhood within England and Wales. You can view the overall crime rate, or drill down and see the level for each specific type of crime. In the future, you will also be able to view crimes on each individual street.
As well as crime data, you can also access details about the police force in your local neighbourhood. You can get the phone number, email address and website of your neighbourhood policing team, so you can contact them directly. You can also keep informed about events that are happening around you, so you can go and meet your policing team face to face.

Surrey Police notches up a UK – if not world – first with the launch of a trailblazing mobile phone application enabling users to engage with their local neighbourhood teams. The interactive smart phone app allows people to see on a map what their Safer Neighbourhood officers are working on as well as giving them the opportunity to vote on their policing priorities. Among a whole host of other features, users will also be able to find details about their local neighbourhood officers and how to contact them along with information about local events. Following a successful trial by police staff and officers in Runnymede, the app is now available for free public download from the Apple iPhone App Store and will soon be available on the Google Android market. It can currently only be used in the pilot area but a County wide roll out will follow. |

Crime Rates is an easy to use tool that allows for the general comparison of crime rates in two locations. This may be useful when moving property, booking hotels or travelling.
The web-site's interface is designed to be clean and simple in order to provide intuitive use.

A web-based representation of crime data for the Met and City of London Police forces displayed as a heatmap. There are options to change the crime type as well as for adjusting the heatmap display properties.
The visualisation uses HTML5's Canvas tag so only works in web browsers that currently support it. It also needs a reasonably powerful computer, because all the data-points are loaded into the browser.
The mobile version of Police.uk allows fast and convenient access to crime, team members and other key details from the Police API using any internet-capable mobile device, such as the Apple iPhone 4 or Google Android handsets.
The mobile site can also take advantage of GPS functionality, so finding crime and policing information on the spot is a mere tap away.
